Your Host
I am Brian, the manager of the Cruachan.
Hospitality was not something I thought I would be doing when I left school. I was initially very interested in Architecture and did work experience at Glass & Murray Architects on Cambridge St, Glasgow. After this, I chose design and began a 5-year course in Interior Design at Glasgow College of Building and Printing & Caledonian University in 1998.
I loved the detailed drawings of buildings and the technical aspect. I also loved the colourful perspective drawings for each project.
I worked for a well-known Spanish kitchen and bathroom company where I executed many designs for the contract team there, including designs for the new Glasgow Harbour and hotel bathrooms.
My career took a change in direction after a bad accident, which left me looking at life differently and wanting to give something back after receiving care, and so I decided to do support work.
After caring for the vulnerable, I put my love of drawing aside and focused on this and travelling.
It was through the care work that I found a love of naturally looking after people.
During this time, I met Martin (the owner of Cruachan) and became close friends. He asked if I’d like to run Cruachan. I thoroughly enjoy my work here.
I look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful place and ensuring your restful stay.
