Cruachan Stoer Guesthouse

Cruachan Guest House was originally established by mum and dad in 1987, when I was seven years old. They transformed an empty Church Manse into a family home and a welcoming guest house, while my siblings and I attended Stoer Primary School just over the hill.

It was a happy home, peaceful in winter and a busy house in summer. In peak season, the house welcomed up to 20 guests, while we children slept in a caravan in the garden. Winter felt like payback, when we were free to choose our bedrooms from the guest rooms.

Apart from the electrical work, my parents carried out the renovations themselves. They knocked down walls, installed the kitchen and bathrooms, and gradually shaped the house into the warm and characterful place guests came to love. Many returned year after year, drawn back by the atmosphere as much as the location.

Since those early days, the house has had four owners and has continued to operate as Cruachan Stoer B&B throughout. In April 2025, I had the opportunity to buy the house back from a school friend, bringing it full circle and opening a new chapter in its story.

Today, my aim is to honour my parents’ original ethos, offering a warm, comfortable home and genuine hospitality with a smile. A place where guests can relax, enjoy the local area, and hopefully return to for many holidays to come.
